A Day Wasted without Wasting Time

I’m one of those kinds of people that get so focused on one thing that I forget about a lot of other things.  That one thing today was trying to post a blog and it turned into completely revamping the whole On the Soapbox page.

It seems as though when Yahoo, (our web host), decided to FINALLY upgrade the blog dashboard and incorporate the most up to date version of Word Press, several of the pages I had on the blog disappeared.  Not that they were hugely important, but when it takes you as long as it does me to get something just the way I want it, seeing what amounted to a weeks worth of work wiped from the database of my digital journal does not make a perfectionist such as myself all that happy.  In fact, my raised vocalization of obscenities certainly rivaled that of levels that will be used this weekend for a race call.

So, what to do?  I don’t give up all that easily as I’m sure most of you have come to find out.  Tell me it can’t be done and I’ll do everything in my power to spite you to prove that the word ‘can’t’ is a cop out for lazy, boring people who would rather find ways to lay blame and complain about their status quo.   I dug in.  I learned a few things along the way and rebuilt my “about” page.  It took a while because the table didn’t want to work and instead of rebuilding the whole thing, I thought it would be much easier to just try a different WP theme.  RIIIIIGHT!

In the process, I found myself not only trying the current themes I have loaded, but also going through and adding new widgets, plug-ins and finally deciding to put the Google AdSense code to work, plus I redid the Twitter gadget in the sidebar so you can all keep up with me.  Ten hours later, I think I’ve finally got it to where it looks a lot more mean, lean, and clean.

Now, I just need to write the blog that I’ve been wanting to all week.  There’s so much to talk about after being in Ohio for three weeks that it would probably do the subject justice to write a series of blogs about the trip and the times I had.

That may have to wait though as I am supposed to be packed and ready to go to GQ’s house for the roadtrip to All-Star Speedway tomorrow and still haven’t sent Anna any updates for the website other than two months worth of video urs for the SuperVid of the Week.

So enough for now.  Maybe I’ll spend some time writing while riding down the NYS Thruway on the way to NH tomorrow, but something tells me I’ll be more involved with enjoying the latest roadtrip than writing about the last one.
